What Does the following CT Scan Report Indicate?

Hi! Did an CT with contrast whole abdomen and result is; 1. Evidence of hysterectomy. Ok! 2. Trace amount of fluid is present at left adnexa. No loculated collection seen. 3. Distended urinary bladder with anterior wall of bladder protruding into the lower abdominal wall underneath the surgical incision. Increased fat stranding with indistinct border of anterior wall of urinary bladder is noted. Bladder failed to collapse despite repeated voiding. Feature are suspicious of adhesion over anterior wall of urinary bladder. 4. No extravesical collection of contrast medium on delayed phase to suggest perforation. 5. 6mm simple cyst at lower pole of right kidney. Pleaseeee helps me to understand. Thanks...

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your CT report shows adhesions over the anterior urinary bladder, it means that the adhesions may be the factor affecting the proper emptying of the bladder & reduce the bladder capacity.

Get clinically examined to rule out Cystitis. Adhesions may cause dyspareunia.

Since the CT shows cysts at the lower pole of the right kidney, it may be indicative of Polycystic kidney disease(PKD).

PKD causes symptoms like hypertension, frequent kidney infections, etc. Get treated at the earliest.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Nupur K, General & Family Physician
